I have a regular usb plugin keyboard and for some reason it keeps loosing signal with the computer i have to keep unplugging and plugging it back in to get it to work i have checked and all the drivers are up to date and i have uninstalled it and reinstalled and still doing it any ideas please drop a message.
Have you tried to plug into a different usb port?
I have 4 open ports tried all of them
could you have gotten a piece of lint or some other like item in the connection on the keyboard itself so that it is making intermitant contact?
good hunting to all, except when hunting me , then best look behind you cause that's where i'll be
yes all ports and plug have been cleaned
cool was just an idea outta left field. hope you can get it straightened out.

have you tried to plug a mouse or another keyboard to see if its the port problem or it could be usb keyboard you bought which is a manufacturing defect
I had that issue twice now, once with a bad bridge (5-port usb network hub) and once with a bad usb cable. Replaced the hub with a new one, and the usb cable with a new one, and each time the problem went away. Course, took a while to make sure it wasn't something else, but now I know to try first replacing the cable to the bad device (unless it has a hardwired cable) or to try a different hub (if my device that won't stay connected goes through a hub), rather than just assuming my device is bad. Was a keyboard one time and a printer the other time.
all usb terminals are in comp. and keyboard is hard wired
Keyboard being hardwired doesn't mean it's not the cable to the keyboard that's the problem, just means you can't easily swap out a cable to see if that's the problem.
Some app somewhere will check out the internal ports and devices and determine if there is an issue with them--I know I've seen that somewhere, but can't recall if it was Mac or Windows--so that some ports (esp. built-in usb hubs) could be avoided or replaced.
Just more thoughts from this non-technician.

You should check your device sleep settings. All USB devices have sleep settings, usually devices don't go completely to sleep but some can.
If using Windows 10, click on the Cortana search box and type in "Device Manager". Go to your Device Manager, right click on the keyboard, (sometimes listed under human interface devices) and select "power management". Make sure the "allow the computer to turn off this device" checkbox is not selected.

Oh, another thing.... If you recently updated you computer a different OS than the one originally installed, you may need a BIOS update. Check your computer manufacturer for chipset firmware updates specifically for the Windows version you are using.
this started before updates but will check anyways
I agree with Pist . Also I would go to power settings in the control panel >change settings > change advance settings > and go thru and make sure there's nothing set in there that could be causing this issue.
Go to your Control Panel’s Device Manager may help you identify the problem. If you see a yellow triangle or a red circle on top of the entry for your keyboard in Device Manager, it means the keyboard’s driver is either corrupt or simply not working for some reason. Right-click the affected device and click Update driver software. Windows will check for a new driver, and if it finds one, the installation process will begin. Alternatively, you can use Windows Update to check for new keyboard drivers.
What brand/model is the keyboard?
Have you dropped or spilled anything on your keyboard?
When you plug the keyboard into another port does it try to detect a new device and install drivers for it?
Is your headset usb? If so try unplugging that and see if you have any issues. A faulty device can cause issues to other devices.
Is your mouse usb? If so are you having any issues with it?

If you have checked for a BIOS update and checked the Power Management settings and you still have issues, the we need more info as to when and how this happens.
Are you right in the middle of typing when that happens, only when it wakes from sleep, or boots up, specific program?
If you wiggle the connector wire at the computer or where it enters the keyboard while it is plugged in, does it lose it's connectivity?
Have you tried that keyboard on another computer or tried a different keyboard on your computer? (BestBuy has a 30-day full refund return policy, HINT, HINT, WINK, WINK)
Have you run the Windows System File Checker tool? Open a command prompt as administrator and type: sfc /scannow
Please stay away from registry repair/cleaners, they cause more harm than good! Microsoft recommends they not be used.
Along with the keyboard model, what is the computer model?
Most hardware manufacturers and going to “Community Forums” to help them reduce the cost of tech support. You could check for them for both your computer and your keyboard. Register and post as much info as you can. They’ll usually have a sticky telling you have to post support questions. If there is a software or driver problem, you will more likely find out there than here.
